ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CONGREGATION

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, ROCKWALL, TEXAS

The congregation is made up of all members on the active roll of the church. All such members who are present at a congregational meeting are entitled to vote. The Book of Order states that the congregation is to hold an annual meeting. At this meeting such business as electing officers, hearing reports of the session along with plans for the coming year, hearing reports from other organizations of the church and transacting other business as is appropriate.

The bylaws of First Presbyterian state that the annual congregational meeting is to be held the third Sunday in October. The annual meeting is October 20th at 6:00 PM.
For the purpose of:
1. election of officers
2. addition of a youth elder for a one year term. This automatically changes the bylaw of the number of elders from 13 to 14.
3. that the challenge budget for 2003 be adopted and subscribed to.
4. any business growing out of the above.

The nominating committee consisting of: Rick Filip, moderator, Hal Whitfield
and James Tunnell submit the following:

Class of 2004: Bill Sinclair (2 yr. unexpired term of Marilyn Hall)
Class of 2003: Chris Rinner (1 yr. unexpired term of Meg Tonne)

Nominations will be accepted from the floor. It is requested that any person who is nominated be contacted prior to their nomination.

The business meeting will begin at 6:00 PM in the sanctuary, followed by dessert in the fellowship hall.

 

   

SESSION MEETING: The regular stated meeting of the Session will be Tuesday, October 15th at 7:30 PM in the conference room.

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN WORSHIPS
UNDER THE BIG TOP
OCTOBER 13, 2002

On Sunday October 13th First Presbyterian will worship on the lawn in a tent.

Worship will be at 10:00 AM (there will be no Sunday School Oct.13th)

Chairs will be available for those who do not bring blankets to sit on.Fellowship and games will follow worship. At noon a potluck lunch will be served. There is a sign up sheet in the fellowship hall where you may indicate food items you wish to bring. Drinks will be provided.

During worship different people will share their faith journey.
You are also invited to share your faith journey during worship.

All proceeds to benefit any future youth mission trips.

STEWARDSHIP

October begins Steward Emphasis. Greg Blair, moderator of the Stewardship Committee, is preparing for the 2003 stewardship season. Beginning October 20th special emphasis will be given to the church's financial needs and 2003 program plans November 17th is Dedication Sunday.

LADIES NIGHT OUT: will meet Monday, Oct. 7th... Dinner and a movie TBA

MORNING CIRCLE: will meet Thursday, Oct. 10th 10:30 AM at the church

EVENING CIRCLE: will meet Thursday, Oct. 17th 7:30 PM at the home of
Marilyn Hall.

BAKE SALE: The Presbyterian Women's monthly Bake Sale is held the 2nd Sunday of each month. The next bake sale will be Sunday October 13th.

ENGRAVED BRICKS: The Presbyterian Women are once again selling engraved bricks. The cost is $50.00 each. Forms are on the counter in fellowship hall. Completed forms with check, made out to the "Presbyterian Women" must be turned in by Oct 13th to Felie Cotti or the church office.


WORLD COMMUNITY DAY

NOVEMBER 1, 2002

World Community Day is an annual event that unites Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox and other Christian women in common worship for the purpose of strengthening and building friendly relations within the community.
This year, we invite our Jewish and Muslim sisters to pray with us for peace in the world and freedom for God's children.


The first Sunday of the month is designated as food Sunday. You are encouraged to bring your donations and place them in the wagon in fellowship hall. Canned meats, vegetables, dried foods, (cereal, rice pasta) oil, sugar, flour, and toiletries are needed to restock the food pantry at Helping Hands.

LOCAL MENTAL ILLNESS FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP

The Lakes Area Family to Family Support Group is a discussion group open to anyone experiencing the pain of having an adult family member or friend diagnosed with a serious mental illness. Serious mental illnesses include schizophrenia, bi-polar, manic and clinical depression and OCD. You are welcome to join this group. There is no cost involved. Our help for each other is based upon 11 principals of support which enables us to share our experience, strength and hope. Our information for dealing with the mental illness of a loved one is from the NAMT Family to Family Education program. We meet the 2nd Saturday of each month at the First Presbyterian Church in Rockwall, 602 White Hills Dr.
Facilitator: Hal Whitfield.

All Saints Sunday, November 3rd, is a day to celebrate the lives of the saints we know by name and all those persons who do not have a special day set aside to honor them.
