ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CONGREGATION
FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, ROCKWALL, TEXAS

The congregation is made up of all members on the active roll of the church. All such members who are present at a congregational meeting are entitled to vote. The Book of Order states that the congregation is to hold an annual meeting. At this meeting such business as electing officers, hearing reports of the session along with plans for the coming year, hearing reports from other organizations of the church and transacting other business as is appropriate.

The bylaws of First Presbyterian state that the annual congregational meeting is to be held the third Sunday in October.

The annual meeting is October 21st at 6:00 PM for the purpose of:

  • election of officers
  • acting on the session’s recommendation that the challenge budget for 2002 be adopted and subscribed to.
  • transacting any business growing out of the above.

The nominating committee consisting of: Russ Urquhart, moderator, Cynthia Case and Julie Hendon submit the following:

Elder class of 2004: David Gordon, Marilyn Hall, Richard Kirk, Brad Tomlinson, elder-trustee/treasurer

Elder Trustee, class of 2003: (to fill unexpired term of Lee Harris) Bill Sinclair

Nominations will be accepted from the floor. It is requested that any person who is nominated be contacted prior to their nomination.

The business meeting will begin at 6:00 PM in the sanctuary, followed by dinner in the fellowship hall.



ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL
CHILI COOK-OFF AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL
SUNDAY OCTOBER 28th at 5:00 PM

Activities will begin with judging the homemade chili and ice cream. The chili supper will be served at 6:00 PM.

Cost is: $5.00 youth/adults, $3.00 children, or $20.00 per family

Dress as your favorite Bible-storybook character for the costume contest!

Bring a carved pumpkin for the pumpkin carving contest!

Fun and games for all ages. Proceeds to be used for the Rotation Model Sunday School materials.

Please pick up registration forms for the chili/ice cream contests in fellowship hall and sign up for dinner. Donated cakes needed for the Cake Walk!

STEWARDSHIP

October begins Steward Emphasis. Greg Blair, moderator of the Stewardship Committee, is preparing for the 2002 stewardship season. Beginning October 21st special emphasis will be given to the church’s financial needs and 2002 program plans.

November 18th is Dedication Sunday

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN

LADIES NIGHT OUT: meets the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 PM

MORNING CIRCLE: met Thursday, Oct. 11th 10:30 AM at the home of Helen Battenschlag.

BETTER THAN HOUSEWORK: meets the first Wednesday of the month for short trips in and around Dallas and lunch. The ladies met Wednesday October 3rd for a picnic in the park in Terrell.

EVENING CIRCLE: will meet Wednesday, Oct. 17th 7:30 PM at the home of Janet Reeves.

BAKE SALE: The Presbyterian Women’s monthly Bake Sale is held the 2nd Sunday of each month. The next bake sale will be Sunday October 14th.


HELPING HANDS

The first Sunday of the month is designated as Food Sunday. You are encouraged to bring your donations and place them in the wagon in Fellowship Hall. Canned meats, vegetables, dried foods, (cereal, rice pasta) oil, sugar, flour, and toiletries are needed to restock the food pantry at Helping Hands. The special offering received on Sept. 30th to benefit Helping Hands was $1053.00.

WORSHIP COMMITTEE

ALL SAINTS SUNDAY

All Saints Sunday, October 28th is a day to celebrate the lives of the saints we know by name and all those persons who do not have a special day set aside to honor them.

If you would like a person remembered on All Saints Sunday, please give the church office their name.

MEETINGS:

SESSION MEETING: The regular stated meeting of the Session will be Tuesday, October 16th at 7:30 PM in the conference room.


THE CHURCH IS PEOPLE

YOUNG SINGLES SOCIAL GROUP: will go bowling on Sat., October 27th. Meet at the church 6:30 PM.

DISASTER RELIEF OFFERING: A disaster relief offering will be received Sunday October 14th in response to the New York terrorist attack. The offering is designated for Presbyterian Church USA, One Great Hour, which has and is continuing to respond to the disaster.

CHURCH PICTORIAL DIRECTORY: Julie Hendon has informed us that the directory will be received very soon. The congregation thanks Julie for her work in coordinating this project. Also, a special thank you to Laura Slackney for taking photographs for submittal pictures.

CONGRATULATIONS: to Isom and Kathy Crawford on the birth of Kaitlyn Louise. A rose will be put in the church in Kaitlin’s honor October 14th.
