ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

At the meeting of the congregation Sunday May 30th, by an overwhelming
majority, the congregation voted to call Anne K. Johnson as associate pastor.
The election of Anne puts the church in a strong position to move forward in Christian Education and in additional areas of ministry. First Rockwall will celebrate 150 years of Ministry with an expanded and strengthened ministerial staff.
Let us pray God's blessings on Anne as she says "goodbye" to the congregation she presently serves and prepares to move to Rockwall.

Anne's first Sunday with us will be July 11th.
Nancy Tiegreen will say "Goodbye" and Anne Will say "Hello" during both worship services on July 11th.

The Membership Committee will host a "Hello/Farewell Tea" for Nancy Tiegreen and Anne Johnson following worship on July 11th.

What time during the day do you set aside for reflection? You may well answer by saying that you really do not set aside such a time. I have observed, however, that we all do have such times that we reserve for meeting challenges, facing difficulties, and simply experiencing joys in our lives. It may be that we are not aware of how-or when-but we do it. I set aside time each morning to be quiet, and to let the day begin.
I realized recently that the morning time is only one of the times I use to meet life's challenges, and to acknowledge the movement of events in the world and in my personal life. Driving time on the way out to Rockwall and back home is another.

Events in the world require prayer, and the intention and attention to help bring peace to our world. Events in my own life have required more than usual attention-lots more! I became a homeowner on April 30, and as I write this, I am packing and moving-in stages, with good help from my family. I testify to you that no matter how organized you thought you were, the experience of moving slips off into chaos at some point. During this time, events here at church have moved toward the completion of my term as your Interim Associate Pastor. Anne Johnson will begin her work as your new Associate Pastor on July 11th, which will also be my last day with you.

So it is that right now, change is the operational word in my own life, and in life among you here at the church, too. Wonderful summer things are happening here at the church. Workshop Rotation classes, and classes for all others, will continue through the summer. The Workshop Rotation Group will be involved in a study of the Apostle Paul's journeys. We hope children participating will gain knowledge of the Apostle, and begin to understand how important and far-reaching was his work in spreading Christianity. We have a life-size drawing of the Apostle in the Oasis Room, where we will continue to gather reflections about Paul the human being by adding to the observations, saved on sticky tags, that we put on-or around him-each week. A banner and passports complete ongoing preparations and experiences.

It is a wonderful change that is happening here at the church. To be sure, I have mixed feelings as I leave you, for I have enjoyed my time serving with you here.
I appreciate all of you so much. You have been generous in your encouragement and your praise. I will miss being here. However, those feelings are balanced out by the satisfying knowledge that you will be so well served with Anne's gifts and skills in this position.

Thank you again for your welcoming warmth, and warm caring toward me.

Blessings,

     Nancy
